Roger Jones and his wife Mary have been in full-time Christian music ministry since 1984 and together with a small team, run Christian Music Ministries. Formerly a music teacher in inner-city Birmingham, Roger is well-known throughout the UK and abroad for his Christian musicals and has written 25 to date. Roger’s latest musical ‘ZAC’ premiered at Bromsgrove Baptist Church, Worcestershire, in September this year. Rogers’ focus has always been on writing music which is accessible by the local church and does not require experienced musicians or hi-tech equipment to perform. Roger’s itinerant ministry encourages and teaches on music in worship and renewal and is always missional focused - motivated by a desire to share his own strong and personal faith in Christ, and for others to share in his passion. Roger, a Lay-Reader of over 37 years was once described at the Spring Harvest National Teaching and Workshop event, as one of the Church’s game-changers. In 2018 Roger was awarded the Mary Jones Prize by Bible Society for his musical ‘Greater than Gold’ (1983) and its contribution to keeping the story of Welsh girl Mary Jones and her Bible, alive worldwide. In 2019 Roger was a recipient of the Thomas Cranmer Award for Worship, which was presented by Archbishop Justin Welby in recognition of Roger working as a composer, evangelist, and worship leader and speaker.
