When Israel needed guidance and wisdom they told a story. The book of Samuel is one of the greatest examples. This will be a week to listen to some of them and learn how they guide our own faith and understanding. Each day we will tell the story of a character or event and reflect on it together. We will explore how they told their stories – the meaning so often between the lines.

We will take time to discuss together what they have to teach us in the lives and journeys that are ours.

Further information from David:

Time away like this is a rare chance to take time with parts of the bible we usually only read in very short extracts. Samuel is a profound reflection on people and events across the heart of Israel’s story as an emerging nation. They are stories for everyone. This will not a history as we tell it.  This imaginative wisdom literature and we need it in a world as complex and uncertain as this.  – both then and now.
