It is sometimes called the Third Gospel and it is commonly supposed that the author was a doctor. But there are many distinct aspects of Luke which suggests it is fit for our time. It has the greatest number of women featured in any of the four Gospels, and more about the risen Christ than Matthew or Mark. It has an urgency and anger about it with regard to social justice; and it is passionate about food. These are some of the themes we will explore for their relevance not to history but for tomorrow.
