Advent is a season of preparation and waiting. We wait with joy and wonder as we look forward to celebrating the arrival of the baby Jesus, born in such humility for the salvation of the world, and we prepare ourselves to meet with the Lord Jesus when he returns in glory. It is a season alive with anticipation.

We are delighted that leading our Advent Retreat is Ven Malcolm Chamberlain, currently Archdeacon in the Diocese of Sheffield who will be consecrated as Bishop of Wakefield in June. This retreat will include guided reflections and periods of silence.

Silent retreat

Silent retreats contain periods of silence, when we are encouraged not to speak to one another but focus instead on our thoughts and on God. The programme starts and ends normally, with times of silence in between.
