Comparing works of art of many kinds which remain unfinished, with our part in the story of the Bible. We are all ‘work in
progress’! Whether it’s a fine painting, a children’s story, a magnificent building or a modern-day film, there is a purpose in the mind and heart of the artist. But when the music was incomplete, the last pages of the book not written or the sculpture put aside, can it still be a great work? We connect with the creativity of the world and the creativity of God to think about the story of the Bible in which we have a part – however incomplete we may feel we happen to be.


Hilary combines work as a minister with particular responsibility for lay training and discipleship for a group of parishes, with the equally stimulating world of prison chaplaincy. Living amongst the villages of Saddleworth on the boundaries of Pennines and Peak District give great opportunity for hillwalking. Whilst local theatre, music and food are pleasures only secondary to the love of her small but characterful dog Nutmeg.
