Gordon Dey

This is an online-only event.

Come and join us to explore the world of Jesus.

Gordon has led group pilgrimages to the Holy Land for over thirty-five years and led training tours for future pilgrimage group leaders. The experience of this has led him to develop ‘The World of Jesus’ as a resource for those who would like to gain a deeper insight into the context of Jesus’ ministry. Each week Gordon will focus on a particular geographical area of the Holy Land, so we can explore the landscape, the historical background, and the political, economic, religious and social setting that pertained in the time of Jesus.

This course will run for 8 sessions over 9 weeks, on Zoom, and will be Hosted by the Scargill Community.

The pattern for each session will be:

– a welcome followed by a talk from Gordon using slides for up to an hour

– 10 minute break before a time in breakout groups to reflect on questions

– Coming back together as one group before we end the session and say ‘goodnight’ to one another

Session dates, times and titles are:

Mon 1st February, 7-9pm: Jesus of Nazareth

Mon 8th February, 7-9pm: Jesus and the Sea of Galilee

Mon 15th February, 7-9pm: Jesus and the Decapolis

Mon 22nd February, 7-9pm: Jesus and Samaria

This course is free and on Zoom. If you would like to donate then give what you would like to give. Our Eventbrite system has two types of tickets for each event, but both give you the same access. You can either book a Free ticket OR a Donation ticket (minimum donation is £1) – please do choose the ticket that suits you. If you’d rather make a donation in a different way, that’s absolutely fine – just choose the free ticket. Thank you!

If you book on to this event you will receive an e-mail from us by 18:00 on Sunday 31st January with further details of the event including the links (Zoom and /or YouTube).
