Bishop Chris Edmondson & Karen Openshaw

We would love you to join us as we spend a weekend exploring how we can make connections between the practice of mindfulness and the church’s call to mission. Karen and Chris have recently had a booklet* published by Fresh Expressions, from which this weekend takes its title. Drawing from this, together we will: reflect on God’s mindfulness of us; look for the traces of mindfulness through the rich Christian heritage of contemplation and mysticism; discover how we, as Christians can become more mindful of God, others and self; see how mindfulness can truly be a mission gift in the world, during these challenging times. There will be times of Christian meditation, along with opportunities for mindful walking, reflection and prayer. Karen runs a consultancy for those in leadership roles, staff ‘listening services’ and ‘introduction to mindfulness’ workshops.

Chris has been Chair of the Scargill Movement since 2009, and is a former Bishop of Bolton.
