Day visits

We are excited to be able to welcome visitors back to Scargill for day visits…

In this time when we are looking forward with hope to being able to welcome guests back to Scargill for residential stays, we are delighted to be able to recommence the opportunity for day visits.  For the time being we are only able to welcome you on these pre-booked day visits on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  In order to make them available to as many people as possible, there is a morning and an afternoon slot each day and we ask that you only book one slot in a month.  Each of these slots has space for up to 5 visitors.

These visits will mainly be outside, so please do bring some warm clothes! There will be opportunity to meet with some other visitors and community members in a gazebo in the Marsh Garden.  You will also be able to spend some time in the Chapel for personal prayer as well as get some time on your own in the gardens & estate if you would like.  If you are coming on a morning visit, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch to eat here outside.  The disabled access toilet in the Sun Lounge will be set aside for use by the day visitors in each slot. At the end of each slot there will be the opportunity to join the community in the Chapel for one of their daily prayers as an act of public worship.

Obviously there is Government guidance and legislation that we need you to help us comply with:

  • We will be able to socialise outside in groups up to a maximum of 6 people.
  • We need to abide by the usual 2m distancing between households.
  • We need to wear a face covering when in the Chapel, also when inside the building and 2m distancing is difficult to achieve.

There are a number of hand sanitiser points around the building.  We encourage their use before coming in the main entrance, before coming back into the house to use the toilet, and before and after being in the Chapel.

The timings for the morning and afternoon visits are shown below.  So we can welcome you, it’s really helpful if you can arrive during the hour arrival slot.
