We are excited to be able to welcome visitors back to Scargill for day visits.
During this time when we are looking forward with hope to being able to welcome guests back to Scargill for residential stays, we are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for day visits. For the time being we are only able to welcome you on these pre-booked day visits. From the beginning of August, we will have day visits available twice a week, generally on Wednesdays and Saturdays. In order to make them available to as many people as possible, there is a morning and an afternoon slot each day and we ask that you only book one slot in a month. To keep within Government guidance, there is space for 5 people on each of these slots.
These visits will mainly be outside, so you will need to bring appropriate clothing. There will be a gazebo in the Marsh Garden to sit under where drinks will be served and to get protection from the blazing heat of the Yorkshire summer sun! There will be an opportunity to spend some time in the Chapel for personal prayer as well as get some time on your own on the estate if you would like. In the light of recent changes to the guidance for the use of face coverings in places of worship, should you want to use the Chapel, you will need to bring a face covering and wear it whilst in the Chapel. If you are coming on a morning visit, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch to eat here. The toilet in Room 31 will be set aside for use by the 5 visitors and hand gel will be available before using the toilet. Obviously, we will need to abide by the usual 2m distancing between households. The timings for the morning and afternoon visits are shown below. So we can welcome you, it’s really helpful if you can arrive during the hour arrival slot.
10:00am to 11:00am – Arrival & welcome from a community member
11:00am to 11:30am – Drinks available

If you have to cancel a day visit you have booked, can you let us know as soon as possible by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can make this available to someone else.
If you feel at all unwell on the day of your visit, please stay at home instead. This is also the case if you have had close contact with anyone in the 14 days before your visit who has been diagnosed with or is presumed to have COVID-19.
You can view our latest COVID-19 risk assessment for these day visits.
Note: unfortunately if you live in the North West England or the Leicester City Local Restriction Areas, we are unable to accept a day visit booking from you until the restriction on meeting with other households in private outdoor spaces, such as Scargill, is lifted. If you have an existing booking and live in a Local Restriction Area we will be in touch to chat about cancelling your booking or waiting to see if the restrictions are lifted in time for your visit. Thank you for your understanding with these changing and difficult circumstances.
