Day visits

Note: due to the current coronavirus restrictions we are unable to welcome day visitors. As soon as we are able to, we hope to resume our day visits.

We are excited to be able to welcome visitors back to Scargill for day visits…

In this time when we are looking forward with hope to being able to welcome guests back to Scargill for residential stays, we are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for day visits.  For the time being we are only able to welcome you on these pre-booked day visits on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  In order to make them available to as many people as possible, there is a morning and an afternoon slot each day and we ask that you only book one slot in a month.  Each of these slots has space for up to 8 visitors.

During these visits there will be opportunity to meet with some other visitors and community members in either the Marsh Lounge or the Morning Room.  You will also be able to spend some time in the Chapel for personal prayer as well as get some time on your own in the gardens & estate if you would like.  If you are coming on a morning visit, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch to eat here.  The disabled access toilet in the Sun Lounge will be set aside for use by the day visitors in each slot.

Obviously there is Government guidance and legislation that we need you to help us comply with:

      • We need to wear a face covering when inside the building, apart from when seated to eat or drink.
      • We will be able to socialise in groups up to a maximum of 6 people.
      • We need to abide by the usual 2m distancing between households.

There are a number of hand sanitiser points around the building.  We encourage their use before coming in the main entrance, before and after using the toilet, and before and after being in the Chapel.

The timings for the morning and afternoon visits are shown below.  So we can welcome you, it’s really helpful if you can arrive during the hour arrival slot.

If you have to cancel a day visit you have booked, can you let us know as soon as possible by e-mail at so we can make this available to someone else.

To help take care of each other, there is a pre-visit self declaration at the end of the booking form – please read this carefully.  Also, in order for you to visit, we will need your consent to use the contact details you give us for requests from NHS Test & Trace.

You can view our latest COVID-19 risk assessment for these day visits.

Note: unfortunately if you live in an area with a Local COVID Alert Level of High (Tier 2) or above, we are unable to accept a day visit booking until these restrictions are lifted for you.
