About

Our Christian tradition

Scargill is open, welcoming, and to use a few jargon words as well: ecumenical, trinitarian and new monastic.

Open and welcoming

Our Christian holiday, conference and retreat centre invites Christians of all traditions (as well as people who are not Christians) to come and spend time alongside our resident community.

Ecumenical

The Scargill Movement is made up of people from a wide range of Christian denominations — Methodist, United Reformed, Anglican, Baptist, Roman Catholic, free church and many others. Our Community Members come from a broad range of traditions and from several different countries. Although we are not members, we are aligned with Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.

Trinitarian

We are Trinitarian: we focus on the love of God the Father as seen perfectly in Jesus Christ, and live (or try to!) in the power of the Holy Spirit.

New monastic

Scargill is also a community in the new monastic tradition, which means that we live a shared life in an intentional Christian Community, committed to offering hospitality.
